Dial-a-Bus is a door to town service, primarily used by elderly and less able people, who are unable to use or access regular public transport services (for reasons of age, infirmity, disability).
As with all our services, passengers are collected from their front door (so no standing outside during the cold winter months) and taken to a supermarket closest to the area they live in. Approximately an hour and forty minutes shopping time is allocated.
Additionally, passengers may wish to visit the town centre instead, to pay bills, access Post Office Services or for those who wish to shop locally instead.
Shopping days and destinations are allocated by area, and currently covers most of the towns and villages within the Erewash Borough.
Drivers are friendly and helpful and will assist with shopping bags, but we respectfully ask that shopping bags are limited to two per person (or what can safely be stored underneath the seat).
Everyone using this service must register to do so; registration takes just a few minutes, and cost £1.00 for lifetime membership. The fare for this service is £2.50 each way (£5.00 return journey) payable on the day.
We often provide day trips and outings for our registered passengers, usually during the school holidays; these have included trips into the Peak District, the coast and other places of interest.
